Dear Parents and Community Members:
We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER), which provides key information on the 2010-2011 educational progress for Hollywood Elementary School. The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and teacher quality. If you have any questions about the AER, please contact Mrs. Marcy White, the Hollywood Elementary School Principal, for assistance.

For 2010-2011, Hollywood Elementary School made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in English language arts and mathematics. We also received a grade of “A” on the Michigan School Report Card. While we are pleased to have reached these important goals, we are continuously working to improve. We appreciate the loyal and continued support of parents, staff and our community in this effort.
State law requires that we also report additional information:
- ASSIGNING PUPILS TO THE SCHOOL – Hollywood Elementary School houses approximately 460 Pre-Kindergarten – 5th grade students. Each student is assigned to a particular classroom teacher based on his/her age and previous school record, if any. Elementary students are assigned to one of three school buildings according to geographical boundaries established and modified from time to time, to assure full utilization of the district’s teaching and facility resources. To provide an equal educational opportunity to all elementary students, it is sometimes necessary to transfer some students from one attendance area to another.
- THE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN – A complete copy of the 3-5 year School Improvement Plan can be viewed at > Hollywood School Improvement Plan (pdf)
- SPECIALIZED SCHOOLS – In addition to the services provided locally, approximately twenty-four (24) Lakeshore K-12 students participated in specialized county programs. This year eleven (11) students diagnosed as moderately to severely mentally impaired attended the Blossomland Learning Center in Berrien Springs. Thirteen (13) students participated in the Lighthouse Education Center program for the severely emotionally impaired and one (1) student attended the Hearing Impaired program in Berrien Springs.
- Core Curriculum – As mandated by the State of Michigan, Lakeshore Public Schools has developed a core curriculum at all school levels. Outcomes to be achieved by all students have been defined based upon the district’s educational mission, student performance objectives, and the Michigan Grade Level Content expectations for K-8 students and the Michigan High School Content Expectations for 9-12.
