The Lakeshore Lancer Marching Band won their 4th State Championship at Ford Field on Saturday, November 7!  The band swept all of the caption awards including  best music, best marching and best general effect!  The Marching Band is under the direction of Lori VonKoenig and Phil and Cindy Huff.

The Lancers have previously won State Championships in 2002, 2003 and 2008. The 172 member Lancer Band performed their show, “Out of the Silence” which is based on the life of Malala Yousafzai  and her brave fight for the right to go to school. Malala was shot by the Taliban in 2012 for being a girl attending school in Pakistan. Since then her influence and leadership on behalf of human rights and education has been profound.  Malala is the youngest recipient of the Noble Peace Prize.  Drum Major, Matt Orsillo said “it was an honor to tell Malala’s story. The Lakeshore Excellence Foundation really gave us a special opportunity to learn about Malala’s story.”  The Lakeshore Excellence Foundation brought the movie, “He Named Me Malala” to Benton Harbor’s Celebration Cinema for a one-time viewing for the Lakeshore Band last week so they could learn more about her bravery and  courageous fight for education. The band also won 1st place at the Grant, Jenison and Rockford shows this year. Band Director, Lori VonKoenig said “the hard work and determination of the students this year was phenomenal.  I knew at band camp that this group had what it takes to win a championship.  Their team work and accountability to each other was second to none! We want to thank our parents, school and community  for their continued support!”

Financial Aid Night

Monday, December 7, 2015

Do you have a student going to college next year? If so, then your attendance is a must at this year’s Financial Aid Night. Applying for financial aid can be confusing if you don’t have an understanding of the process. The presentation will focus on general financial aid issues that apply regardless of the college/university that will be attended.
