• Assistant Principal

Hello! My name is Allison Arend and I am so incredibly honored to be the Assistant Principal at Lakeshore Middle School! I’m looking forward to an exciting year full of new relationships, service, and learning. It is my mission to motivate, encourage and drive each and every member of our student body, staff, and faculty into places of continual excellence as students, educators, parent-partners, community-based partners and lifelong learners. Lakeshore Middle School is known for its commitment to promoting confident, compassionate, and intellectually-curious young people who are well-prepared to excel throughout their middle school years and beyond. Keeping this reputation in mind, I am eagerly and enthusiastically looking forward to continuing those commitments with Lancer families.

As we progress through the year, I look forward to building relationships and continuing to acclimate myself to the students, staff, and community. I completed my undergraduate studies at Hope College and my Masters in Educational Administration from Michigan State University where my teaching experiences have allowed me to work with students from a variety of backgrounds. I am certified in secondary Social Studies and English and taught at both the middle and high school levels where I held various roles including Student Senate advisor, School Improvement chair, Girls on The Run coach, 7th grade volleyball coach, basketball game announcer, Crisis Management team member, co-director and co-creator of the after school program, and was the organizer of the school wide service learning project. Because I consider myself a lifelong learner, I was constantly reflecting on my work inside and outside of school and intend to continue this focus on reflection as the Assistant Principal.

Personally, outside of school I enjoy volunteering with Women’s Service League and spending time with my family. I love coffee, Daisy (my German Shepherd), TED talks, live music, yoga, reading, all things Lake Michigan, farmers markets and travel. Fun fact: I went to Iceland last summer with friends I have had since I was four years old!

I’m so happy and humbled to have the opportunity to serve Lakeshore Middle School students, faculty, and families. I look forward to sharing in the Lancer tradition of excellence.

    Lancer Pride,

    Allison Arend
