Schools of Choice – 2026–2027 School Year
Lakeshore Public Schools will accept Schools of Choice applications for the 2026–2027 school year from April 22 through May 17.
We encourage families to review the Schools of Choice Information Sheet for important details regarding eligibility, timelines, and the application process.
Thank you for your interest in Lakeshore Public Schools. We are honored that you are considering our district for your child’s education.
Lakeshore Public Schools accepts Schools of Choice applications from students who reside in another public school district within Berrien County but live outside the Lakeshore Public Schools district boundaries.
Applications are accepted only during designated application windows established each year.
Acceptance is based on:
Available space at the building and grade level
Overall district capacity
Student disciplinary history (where applicable)
How to Apply
Parents may submit a completed online Schools of Choice application to the Lakeshore Public Schools during the posted application period.
Applications are not processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Parents will be notified of their child’s acceptance status within 15 days after the application window closes by email and usps.
Important Information for Families
Transportation is not provided. Parents/guardians are responsible for getting students to and from school.
Complete enrollment paperwork and proof of residency will only be required after a student has been accepted.
Once accepted, students do not need to reapply each year, as long as they continue to live outside Lakeshore boundaries and within Berrien County.
If accepted, all enrollment documents must be submitted by June 8.
We encourage families to carefully review all application materials and deadlines to ensure a smooth and timely process.
Athletic Eligibility
Per the Michigan High School Athletic Association, athletic participation rules apply to Schools of Choice students in grades 10–12. For current eligibility requirements, please visit the MHSAA website directly.
