INTERNET CONNECTION
To assist students and parents with the challenges created from the COVID-19 emergency, some Internet providers are offering options to families of K-12 students to provide Internet connection. Below are some of those offerings:
Comcast:
Comcast is helping to make sure Michigan residents stay connected to the Internet as schools close and companies encourage employees to work from home due to the coronavirus.
For the next 60 days, Comcast is offering free Wi-Fi service for everyone, and is also giving current customers unlimited data for no additional charge.
Xfinity WiFi hotspots across the country will be available to anyone who needs them for free – including non-Xfinity Internet subscribers. Once at a hotspot, consumers should select the "xfinitywifi" network name in the list of available hotspots, and then launch a browser. For a map of Xfinity WiFi hotspots, go to Xfinity WiFi website.
Comcast is also pausing data plans for 60 days, giving all customers unlimited data for no additional charge..

Internet Essentials Plan, which provide low-income houses with basic internet services for $9.95 a month is offering two months of free service for new customers. Comcast is also increasing data speeds on the plan so users have faster access to the web. The plan typically offers speeds of 12 megabytes per second on downloads and two MBPS on uploads. Not those speeds will be increased to 25/3 MBPS.
Spectrum:
Charter Communications is committing to do the following for 60 days:
-- Charter will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.
-- Charter will partner with school districts to ensure local communities are aware of these tools to help students learn remotely. Charter will continue to offer Spectrum Internet Assist, high speed broadband program to eligible low-income households delivering speeds of 30 Mbps.
-- Charter will open its Wi-Fi hotspots across our footprint for public use.
-- Spectrum does not have data caps or hidden fees
If we hear of other companies offering connections, we will post here.
Hotspots:
The District also has a limited number of HotSpot devices to support familes. Please email support for support.
