At our End-of-the-Year District-Wide Staff Celebration this afternoon, we had the pleasure of recognizing several outstanding members of our Lakeshore family. We celebrated the retirements of Deanna Chorny (34 years), Jeff Chorny (32 years), Leo Stampfly (30 years), Yolanda Broehm (24 years), Christine Green (22 years), and Nancy vonKoenig (14 years), honoring their many years of dedicated service to Lakeshore Public Schools.
We also recognized Nanine Cvengros and Brian Ames as the Totzke-Nye Support Staff Persons of the Year, and Christy Erickson and Andy Shingledecker with the R. James Johnson Distinguished Educator Award.

Our graduates had the opportunity to visit Lakeshore Middle School and their elementary school one last time this afternoon. They enjoyed reconnecting with former teachers and being cheered on by the next generation of Lancers during their walk through the buildings! Some graduates visiting at Roosevelt Elementary even joined a quick game of locomotor vs. non-locomotor movement in a PE class—what a fun and memorable sendoff! Last night at the Board of Education meeting, Stewart Elementary students wowed the crowd with coding demos using the Climate Action Kit & Root Coding Robots! Thanks to the Full STEAM Ahead project by Berrien RESA & the Whirlpool Foundation, hands-on STEAM learning is thriving at Lakeshore!
A huge thank you to our dedicated educators who have been participating in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) training!
LETRS equips educators with deep knowledge of the science of reading—how students learn to read, why some struggle, and how to effectively support every learner.

Real-World Prep in Marketing 2!
Our Marketing 2 students participated in Mock Interviews this week, gaining valuable real-world experience thanks to seven generous professionals—including local business owners, HR experts, and leaders from the SW MI Chamber, Tourism, and Cornerstone Alliance. Students completed job applications, wrote resumes, practiced interview questions, and dressed professionally for their interviews.
Interviewers described our students as polite, respectful, well-prepared, and kind—and for some, it was their first interview ever! A big thank you to all who made this powerful learning opportunity possible!
