Congratulations to Mrs. Suze Miller — one of this year’s Bold Women of Business!

Lakeshore Public Schools is proud to celebrate Mrs. Suze Miller, a dedicated English Teacher of 22 years and Assistant Varsity Football Coach of 4 years, for being named a Moody on the Market Bold Woman of Business.

Mrs. Miller defines boldness through courage, determination, and heart — never settling, always empowering others, and proving that the word “can’t” doesn’t belong in her vocabulary.

When she joined the Lakeshore Varsity Football program, she made history as the first female coach and ran through the tunnel with the players, fulfilling a dream come true.

Her advice to others: “Do something new, something challenging, and something scary every so often. That’s the secret to staying young at heart.”

We are proud of Mrs. Miller for inspiring students and athletes alike. Check out the whole story here: https://www.moodyonthemarket.com/suze-miller-named-to-the-bold-women-of-business-class-of-2025/

Big congratulations to our amazing Marching Band!

Last Saturday, they marched their way to 1st place in Flight 4 at the Portage Northern MCBA competition!

But that’s not all — they also earned top honors for Outstanding Music, Outstanding Visual, and Outstanding General Effect!

Students are now preparing for Middle School Band Night, and we invite you to celebrate with us during halftime of the varsity football game on October 24th at Al Stockman Stadium. You won’t want to miss it — our 7th and 8th Grade Band students will join the Lakeshore High School Marching Band for an invigorating performance of Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

Together, 275 band students will take the field — a true showcase of our Band Family spirit!

We’ll also be honoring our dedicated seniors, so come out, cheer loud, and help us celebrate this incredible group of musicians.

Let’s fill the stands with pride and energy — GO BAND!

With the beautiful fall weather we’ve been experiencing, the Environmental Science classes took their final field trip of the season to Grand Mere’s South Lake Bog!

Students explored how bogs form, discovered unique species, learned about ecological succession, and even uncovered the fascinating history of Stevensville’s cranberry industry.

It’s been a wonderful fall for these classes — full of exploration, hands-on learning, and discovering the incredible diversity of ecosystems located just a few miles from LHS!

Earlier this morning, our 9th graders took over Career Pathway Day 2025 at Lake Michigan College’s Mendel Center, hosted by Berrien RESA, Michigan Works, and Lake Michigan College.

Students got hands-on with six career pathways, from engineering and health sciences to arts and business. They met local professionals, tried out interactive activities like virtual welding and robotics, and even explored fire trucks, ambulances, and semi-trucks.

Some of our current CTE students and teachers also presented at the event, proudly putting their skills on display and showing younger students what’s possible through our programs.

The day gave students a real taste of local industries and CTE opportunities, helping them see what careers could be right here in their community.

Yesterday afternoon, our Environmental Science classes explored the Grand Mere Dunes, identifying plant species, learning about dune formation, and seeing succession in action within this unique ecosystem.

Back in the classroom this week, students will use the data they collected to create a project that brings all of their discoveries together. We can’t wait to see their work!

Fire Prevention Week Shoutout

A huge thank you to the Lincoln Township Fire Department for visiting our schools this week! Our students learned so many important tips about fire safety — and the best part was getting to explore the fire truck and see what it’s really like to be part of the crew.

After the presentation, several students even said, “I want to be a firefighter when I grow up!”

We are so grateful for your partnership, LTFD, and for inspiring the next generation of everyday heroes.
